Academic Decathlon

2014 Theme

The theme for 2014 is New Alternatives in Energy: Ingenuity and Innovation.

United States Academic Decathlon

Founded in 1981, the United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) is the most prestigious high school academic team competition in the United States. Its purpose is to develop and provide academic competitions, curriculum, and assessment to promote learning and academic excellence through teamwork among students of all achievement levels.

Each year, high school students compete as school teams and as individuals in a series of scholastic events. Winning teams advance through local, regional, and state levels of competition. The state champions compete at the national finals. (Coach’s Handbook SCOE)
